Frequency Master Lite app

This section explains how the Frequency Master Lite mobile app (“the app”), published by Industrial Noise & Vibration Centre Ltd (“INVC”, “we”), handles your information. It applies to the app only; the rest of this policy covers our website.

In short: the app works entirely on your phone. It has no account, no advertising and no analytics, and it does not connect to the internet. It does not send any information to INVC or anyone else. Your measurements, recordings and details only leave your phone if you choose to share them.

What the app uses, and why

• Microphone: to measure sound levels and to record the sound of your measurement.
• Camera: to record video alongside a measurement, to show a live picture on the opening screen, and to take photos if you choose to attach them to a report.
• Location (optional): only if you tap "Use my GPS location" and allow it, to fill in where a recording was made. You can type a location instead.
• Photos on your phone (optional): only the photos you pick to attach to a report. The app uses Android’s photo picker and cannot see your other photos.
• Details you enter: your name, the recording location and a description of the noise, which go into your report.

All processing of sound and video happens on your phone.

What is stored, and for how long

• Recordings, reports and attached photos are kept in the app's temporary storage on your phone. This includes the measurement, its video, the plot images, the data files and any photos you attach. They are deleted when you press Clear, start a new recording or fully close the app, and also if you clear the app's data or uninstall it.
• Your name is remembered on your phone to save typing them next time. They stay until you change them, clear the app’s data or uninstall the app.
• Your settings and microphone calibrations are stored on your phone.
• If you use "Save to phone", a copy of the report's files is saved to a folder you choose (by default your phone's Downloads folder). That copy is yours: the app doesn't delete it, and other apps that can read your files may be able to see it.

We do not hold any of this information, so there is nothing held by INVC from the app to request or delete.

How your information is protected

Everything the app stores is kept in the app's own private storage on your phone, which other apps cannot read, apart from any copy you choose to save with "Save to phone". The app has no internet access, so it cannot send your information anywhere itself. Files are only passed to another app when you choose that app to share them with, and only for that one share.

Sharing

Information only leaves your phone when you press Share and choose an app to send it with, such as your email or messaging app. What you share then goes to the people you send it to, and is handled by the app you chose under its own privacy policy.

If you choose to send your results to INVC, we will handle them in line with the rest of this privacy policy, and only to respond to your enquiry.

Your choices

• You can allow or refuse the microphone, camera and location permissions, and change them at any time in your phone’s settings. The app needs the microphone to measure sound. The camera and location are optional.
• You can delete everything the app holds by pressing Clear, by clearing the app’s data in your phone’s settings, or by uninstalling the app.

Children

The app is not designed for children and is not directed at them.
