1 Day Noise Control Master Class

noise training - occupational noise control

This master class workshop provides delegates with a practical working knowledge of the most effective approach to noise control in their environment. It includes the only effective way to evaluate the noise control options plus multiple case studies demonstrating solutions to some of the most common noise problems. Many of these can simply be retro-fitted to existing plant to provide large noise reductions at source with no effect on access, maintenance or productivity – and with virtually no down-time.

Delegates will be able to return to work knowing how to reduce noise (and therefore risk) by 50% - 90% across a wide range of plant and machines. Highlights include:-

  • low-cost solutions to the 10 most common noise problems
  • self-financing noise control options that pay for themselves
  • details of low cost, hygienic, rugged materials to reduce noise and vibration
  • forum to discuss current noise problems and their solutions in detail with experts

The in-house variant can be customised to particular industries and can also be run over 2 days to include site projects and practical work.

“And many thanks for an excellent, well delivered presentation. The audience, myself included, were impressed with the technology available to reduce noise levels so significantly – and especially how much money it saved!!! Thanks again.” Philip Roberts, HM Specialist Inspector

Location: public courses take place at our head office in Slough or can be delivered in-house

Course outline: 1 or 2 day workshop designed for Health and Safety Officers plus other professionals and engineers who need to know how to reduce noise, and therefore risk, in the workplace as cost-effectively as possible.

Learning objectives and outcomes:  delegates will leave with a practical understanding of how to determine the best options and what would constitute best practice to reduce the noise, and therefore the risk, from plant and machines in their own workplace to meet the requirements of the noise regulations.

Accreditation: an INVC attendance certificate is issued
Qualification: N/A: 2 CPD Points
Relevant Regulations: The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005, Buy Quiet purchasing policies

  • Productivity, cost, engineering issues
  • Noise terminology, behaviour of sound and acoustic materials
  • Diagnostic process - the key to successful noise control
  • The noise control options - fans, pneumatics, damping, isolation, enclosure, engineering techniques
  • Practical discussion and review of delegate projects
  • Case studies - including solutions to the top 10 noise problems

Delegates can email smartphone or other data about current or past noise issues in advance for a free analysis/diagnosis and evaluation of the noise control options that can then be discussed during the workshop. They can also bring the information with them on the day (but we may not have time to process during the workshop). The information we need is as follows:-

  • any available noise level data for the plant in question
  • smartphone video clip showing the plant in operation

You could leave with the solution!

Ideally to have experience of engaging with occupational noise problems or who have attended the INVC 4.5 Day IOSH Noise at Work Risk Assessment & Management Course or other noise competency training courses and want to extend their control expertise to reduce risk.

Suitable for Health and Safety Officers plus other professionals and engineers and others involved in occupational noise management.

Delegates can bring current or past case studies for discussion - see free problem analysis tab for more.
